Annika Wallendahl
Science writer

I am a freelance science writer based in Port Townsend, Washington.

My current project is a local interest book on geology.

I have written dozens of newspaper and magazine articles, including two newspaper columns. My first science writing article was published in 1997.

Most often I write about geology - and have taught several "Geology of Port Townsend" courses through Peninsula College.

I grew up in Bellevue, Washington and received my master's degree in geology from Abo Akademi University in Finland and bachelor's degree from Montana State University.

Like most science writers, I'm a hoggish consumer of science writing. I enjoy the the Science section of New York Times and the Ideas section of the Boston Globe.

Whether on assignment or not - I spend time in the Olympic Mountains, on Puget Sound and in the Cascade Mountains. I write stories that take me outside, shadowing people that do fieldwork. I also maintain a personal blog called "Fieldnotes."

If you're an editor reading this, I can provide photos to accompany stories. I use a Sony A-55 digital camera.
