Iolite Writing Services joins East Jefferson Rotary Club

PORT HADLOCK, Wash. - August 16, 2007 - Iolite Writing Services' Annika Wallendahl became a member of the East Jefferson County Rotary Club on August 16. The club meets weekly in Chimacum, a town located 15 miles outside Port Townsend on Washington State's Olympic Peninsula.

"I'm honored to be able to serve my community as a member of the East Jefferson County Rotary Club," said Annika Wallendahl, founder of Iolite Writing Services.

The East Jefferson Rotary club meets weekly and has raised over $100,000 in the past two years to support community programs and facilities. Past projects funded by the East Jefferson Rotary Club include the construction of the Centennial Pavillon at Chimacum's H.J. Carroll Park and a drinking water purification system in Nang Poong,Thailand.

Rotary is a nonprofit international organization of businesses and professional leaders that promote ethical values, provide humanitarian service and build goodwill between nations. There 1.2 million Rotary members involved with 32,000 Rotary clubs located in 200 countries worldwide.

BIOGRAPHIES

Annika Wallendahl. owner and lead writer

I have worked as a journalist and science writer for eight years. As a member of the National Association of Science Writers, I frequently write about technology, engineering projects, natural sciences and the environment. I am currently a contributing writer for the Reporter Newspapers, a newspaper publication with 500,000 readers in the Bothell-Bellevue-Auburn corridor. In addition to my writing experience, I also hold a master's of science degree in geology and am a licensed professional geologist in Washington State.

I also often cover Scandinavian-interest stories because I am a dual-citizen of Finland. I lived in Turku, Finland for three years while working on my master's degree. I speak fluent Swedish and enjoy biking, running, gardening, ultimate frisbee and watching NOVA.
