OUTREACH

I am currently involved with the nonprofit science outreach group Celestial North. Celestial North is dedicated to astronomy and technology outreach in Western Washington.

Celestial North has an active science writing internship program, so send me an email if you are interested in writing radio scripts (read more below)!

EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH

I visit K-12 schools on the Olympic Peninsula to give presentations on Mars, planetary geology, space exploration, meteor impact sites, fossils and earthquakes. Past experience includes teaching in the Montana Space Grant Consortium's K-12 outreach program about space exploration and astronomy research. If you are a teacher and would like to schedule a visit to your classroom, please contact me.

Presentations vary from 10 minutes to 45 minutes, depending on the age group. The presentations include slides, overheads, rocks and posters to capture and hold the students' attention.

I also give presentations to high school, college and networking groups about local geology and life as a geologist.

RADIO PROGRAMMING

I am currently the managing editor for the weekly radio program, "It's Over Your Head." This award-winning, five-minute astronomy program is produced by Celestial North. The program airs weekly on Everett's KSER 90.7 or you can listen to past programs at www.celestialnorth.org.

Celestial North is currently pursuing several grants to create astronomy learning materials - for schools and for the community. Please visit their website to learn how you can help Washington students exceed WASL science expectations.
